A character study for a comic I'm working on.

The character, IO, is supposed to have a sort of "living mask" that melts on and off, so I figured it might open at the mouth when he speaks. Both the mask and the outfit is a manifestation of his powers and are supposed to be pitch black, but I'm not sure how to do to get shape in there. This is one trial of how to do it.

Interesting, working on just the hands a bit more would have made this piece really work

I'd agree with the last comment about working with the hands more. I think it would do you a lot of good to work from life a lot more, even if just for the small areas that will be emerging out of your black areas.
